This leaflet answers some common questions about Buscopan Forte tablets.

Buscopan Forte is known as an anticholinergic medicine. It relieves the pain of stomach and bowel cramps by helping your digestive system to relax.
Buscopan Forte in packs of 10 tablets can be bought from a pharmacy without a doctor’s prescription.
Buscopan Forte tablets are intended for the treatment of temporary complaints.
Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if the pain does not improve within 48 hours or if pain worsens after treatment.
Do not take Buscopan Forte if you are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or to any of the other ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet.
Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction may include:
Do not take Buscopan Forte if you have any conditions of galactose intolerance (for example, galactosaemia, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption).
This is because Buscopan Forte contains lactose as an ingredient.
Do not take Buscopan if you have:
Buscopan Forte must not be used when there is a blockage in the stomach or bowel or in certain conditions when there is reduced bowel activity.
These conditions are best explained by your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not give it to a child under the age of 6 years.
Safety and effectiveness in children younger than 6 years have not been established.
Do not take it after the expiry date printed on the pack or if the packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering.
If it has expired or is damaged, return it to your pharmacist for disposal.
If you are not sure whether you should start taking this medicine, talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
Tell your doctor immediately if your abdominal pain continues or worsens or occurs with symptoms like:
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.
There is limited information on the use of Buscopan Forte during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Your doctor can discuss with you the risks and benefits involved.
If you have not told your doctor about any of the above, tell him/her before you start taking Buscopan Forte.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you get without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop.
Some medicines and Buscopan Forte may interfere with each other. These include:
These medicines may be affected by Buscopan Forte or may affect how well it works. You may need different amounts of your medicines, or you may need to take different medicines.
Your doctor and pharmacist have more information on medicines to be careful with or avoid while taking this medicine.
Follow all directions given to you by your doctor or pharmacist carefully.
They may differ from the information contained in this leaflet.
If you do not understand the instructions on the box, ask your doctor or pharmacist for help.
The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years of age is one tablet four times a day.
Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.
Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you.
This medicine helps to control your condition, but does not cure it.
Do not take it for extended periods. Do not take Buscopan Forte for longer than 2-3 days at a time except on the recommendation of a doctor.
One pack of Buscopan Forte (10 tablets) is enough for 2 ½ days treatment at the recommended dose.
Worsening or persistent stomach pain should be investigated by your doctor to determine the cause of the pain.
If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose when you are meant to.
Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, and then go back to taking your medicine as you would normally.
Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed.
This may increase the chance of you getting an unwanted side effect.
If you are not sure what to do, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
If you no longer have any stomach pain it is not necessary to finish taking all the tablets in the pack.
Seek medical advice if you have used more than the recommended or prescribed dose of Buscopan Forte.
Symptoms of an overdose may include: drowsiness, dry mouth, difficulty passing urine, reddening of the skin, decreased gastrointestinal tract movement, fast heart rate and sight disturbances.
Advice can be provided by a doctor, pharmacist or Poisons Information Centre (telephone 13 11 26 in Australia and 0800 764766 in New Zealand).
Do not drive a car or operate machinery if you have taken more than the recommended or prescribed dose of Buscopan Forte.
If you are about to be started on any new medicine, remind your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking Buscopan Forte.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you begin taking any other medicine while you are taking this medicine.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if the pain is severe or does not improve within 48 hours of taking Buscopan Forte.
Cramps in the stomach or bowel may be temporary or may signal the presence of a more serious problem.
Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how Buscopan Forte affects you.
This medicine may cause dizziness, tiredness, drowsiness in some people. If you have any of these symptoms, do not drive, operate machinery or do anything else that could be dangerous.
Do not drink alcohol while taking Buscopan Forte.
Alcohol may increase the chance of side effects such as drowsiness.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible if you do not feel well while you are taking Buscopan Forte.
All medicines can have side effects. Sometimes they are serious, most of the time they are not.
Ask for the advice of your doctor or pharmacist if you have any concerns about the effects of taking this medicine.
Do not be alarmed by the following lists of side effects. You may not experience any of them.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any of the following and they worry you:
Very rarely there have also been isolated reports of coma, hallucinations (seeing, feeling or hearing things that are not there), dystonia (unusual muscle tone causing distortion of the body), confusion, agitation and dizziness.
These side effects were relieved when the patients stopped Buscopan Forte therapy and received appropriate medical treatment.
If any of the following happen, tell your doctor immediately or go to Accident and Emergency at your nearest hospital:
Allergic reactions can be very serious side effects. You may need urgent medical attention or hospitalisation.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice anything that is making you feel unwell.
Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some people.
Keep your tablets in the pack until it is time to take them.
If you take the tablets out of the pack they may not keep well.
Keep your tablets in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 30°C.
Do not store Buscopan Forte or any other medicine in the bathroom or near a sink.
Do not leave it on a window sill or in the car.
Heat and dampness can damage some medicines.
Keep it where children cannot reach it.
A locked cupboard at least one-and-a-half metres above the ground is a good place to store medicines.
If the expiry date has passed, ask your pharmacist what to do with any medicine that is left over.
Buscopan Forte is available in blister packs of 10 tablets.
Buscopan Forte tablets are white round biconvex film-coated tablets embossed with the letter ‘B’ on one side and the number ‘20’ on the other side.
Buscopan Forte blister packs of 10 tablets are available only at a pharmacy.
Buscopan Forte contains 20 mg of hyoscine butylbromide as the active ingredient.

هیوسین در رده درمانی آنتی کولینرژیک قرار گرفته و به اشکال دارویی قرص و آمپول وجود دارد. بهبود دردهای روده ای و تسکین برخی از دردهای شکمی از جمله موارد مصرف داروی هیوسین می باشد.
درواقع این دارو انقباض و گرفتگی های عضلات جداره روده را رفع می کند و مستقیما روی دستگاه گوارش تاثیر می گذارد. به علاوه یکی از روش های کمکیدرمان اسهال استفاده از داروی هیوسین می باشد. درواقع کارهیوسین شل کردن عضلات دیواره معده، روده، مجرای صفرا و دستگاه ادراری است.قرص buscopan چيست
هیوسین دو نوع است:هیوسین بوتیل برومید که اسپاسم (گرفتگی عضلات) مجرای معده و روده را در سندروم روده تحریک پذیر کاهش می دهد و هیوسین هیدروبرومید که بیماری و تهوع ناشی از اختلالات در گوش میانی را کنترل می نماید.
از این دارو در بیماری مسافرت و انواع دیگر تهوع و استفراغ همچون تهوع پس از اعمال جراحی استفاده می شود. داروی هیوسین به عنوان ماده کمک بیهوشی برای کاهش بزاق و پیشگیری از ترشحات بیش از حد مجاری تنفسی به کار می رود.
این دارو اثر آرامبخش بر مسیرهای عصبی که تهوع و استفراغ را کنترل می کنند دارد. در اسپاسم های گوارشی و ادراری – تناسلی به طور گسترده ای مورد استفاده قرار می گیرد. آمپول یا قرص هیوسین بر روده اثر ضد اسپاسم دارد.
یعنی گرفتگی عضلات روده را برطرف می کند. در کولیک صفراوی و کلیوی به عنوان داروی کمکی مصرف می شود. از این دارو در اعمال جراحی مربوط به چشم استفاده می شود. زیرا مردمک چشم را گشاد می کند.
بزرگسالان:از راه خوراکی، مقدار 20 میلی گرم چهار بار در روز مصرف می شود. در قاعدگی دردناک همراه با اسپاسم، مصرف دارو باید دو روز قبل از قاعدگی شروع و تا سه روز بعد ادامه یابد، و یا مقدار 20 میلی گرم تزریق عضلانی یا وریدی می شود. در صورت لزوم، مصرف این مقدار بعد از نیم ساعت تکرار می شود. از طریق رکتال، 3-1 شیاف در روز استعمال می گردد.
کودکان 12-6 ساله:از راه خوراکی ، مقدار 10 میلی گرم سه بار در روز مصرف می شود. از طریق رکتال یک شیاف در روز استعمال می شود.
به نظر می رسد این دارو عمدتاً بر روی عقده های پاراسمپاتیک داخل دیواره ای عضلات صاف ارگانهای حفرات شکمی و لگن مؤثر است و موجب شل شدن آنها می شود.
فارماکوکینتیک
جذب:هیوسین به میزان کمی از دستگاه گوارش جذب می شود.
مطالعات کافی درباره مصرف داروی این گروه در حیوانات نشان داده است که این دارو اثرات جانبی دارد ولی مطالعات کافی برای انسان در دسترس نیست. با اینحال منافع استفاده از دارو در زنان حامله ممکن است در مقابل خطرات احتمالی آن بیشتر باشد. یا اینکه هیچ گونه مطالعه ای در حیوانات و یا مطالعات کافی در انسان وجود ندارد.
هیوسین از جفت عبور می کند و مصرف دارو در شیردهی توصیه نمی شود.
یبوست, خشکی دهان, اختلال در ادرار کردن و حالت تهوع از جمله شایع ترین عوارض این دارو می باشد. در صورت تشدید و یا طولانی شدن این عوارض باید سریعا به پزشک مراجعه شود. راش، خارش، تورم دست یا پا، مشکلات تنفسی, افزایش نبض، سرگیجه، اسهال،مشکلات بینایی، چشم درد از جمله عوارض بعید قرص و آمپول هیوسین هستند که در صورت بروز این علایم نیز باید به پزشک مراجعه شود.

Buscopan relieves painful stomach cramps, including those linked with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
It can also help bladder cramps and period pain.
Buscopan contains the active ingredient hyoscine butylbromide.

It’s not the same as hyoscine hydrobromide, which is a different medicine taken to prevent travel sickness.
Buscopan comes as tablets available on prescription. You can also buy it from pharmacies.
It can also be given by injection, but this is usually only done in hospital.
Buscopan can be taken by adults and children over the age of 6 years.
Do not give Buscopan Cramps tablets to children under the age of 6 years.
Do not give Buscopan IBS Relief tablets to children under the age of 12 years.
Buscopan isn’t suitable for some people.

There are some extra safety checks to think about if you have bought Buscopan Cramps and Buscopan IBS relief from a pharmacy without a prescription.
For safety, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking Buscopan Cramps and Buscopan IBS if you:
Only take Buscopan IBS relief tablets if your doctor has said that you have irritable bowel syndrome.
Each Buscopan tablet contains 10mg of hyoscine butylbromide.
Buscopan tablets are available on prescription as a pack of 56 tablets.
Buscopan also comes as 2 different products that you can buy from a pharmacy or shop:
Buscopan tablets are all the same strength (10mg) whether you get them on prescription or whether you buy them as Buscopan Cramps or Buscopan IBS Relief.
The usual dose of Buscopan for stomach cramps (or cramping pain) in adults and children aged 12 years and over is 2 tablets taken 4 times a day.
For children aged 6 to 11 years, the usual dose is 1 tablet taken 3 times a day.
The usual dose of Buscopan for symptoms of IBS diagnosed by a doctor in adults and children aged 12 years and over is 1 tablet taken 3 times a day.
You can increase this to 2 tablets taken 4 times a day if needed.
Buscopan is not recommended to treat IBS in children under 12 years.
Take Buscopan tablets as and when you have stomach cramps or period pain.
Buscopan doesn’t usually upset your stomach, so you can take it with or without food.
Only take Buscopan IBS Relief if a doctor has confirmed that you have IBS.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you don’t remember until it’s nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose.
Never take 2 doses at the same time. Never take an extra dose to make up for a forgotten one.
If you often forget doses, it may help to set an alarm to
remind you.
You could also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways that are suitable for you and your medicines.
If you take an extra dose of Buscopan by accident, it’s unlikely to harm you.
Speak to your pharmacist or doctor if you’re worried, or if you have taken more than 1 extra dose.
Like all medicines, Buscopan can cause side effects in some people, but most people have no side effects or only minor ones.
These side effects happen in more than 1 in 100 people.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if these side effects bother you or don’t go away:
It happens rarely, but some people may have a serious side effect when taking Buscopan.
Stop taking Buscopan and call a doctor straight away if you:

In rare cases, it’s possible to have a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to Buscopan.
These are warning signs of a serious allergic reaction. A serious allergic reaction is an emergency.
These are not all the side effects of Buscopan.

You can report any suspected side effect to the UK safety scheme.
What to do about:
Buscopan isn’t usually recommended during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Tiny amounts of Buscopan may get into breast milk, but it’s not known if it harms the baby. There’s a small risk that Buscopan may reduce your milk production.

Some medicines and Buscopan can interfere with each other and increase the chances of you having side effects.
Do not take Buscopan at the same time as some travel sickness medicines, such as domperidone and metoclopramide.
This is because they can cancel each other out and stop each other from working.
Metoclopramide and domperidone increase the movement of the gut, whereas Buscopan reduces it.
Some medicines increase the risk of side effects if you take them at the same time as Buscopan, including:
It’s usually best not to take Buscopan together with other IBS remedies, as they work in the same way.
You’re unlikely to get extra relief for your symptoms, and it may cause more side effects. Take only 1 IBS remedy, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
There are no known problems with taking herbal remedies and supplements at the same time as Buscopan.
For safety, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you’re taking any other medicines, including herbal remedies, vitamins or supplements.
Buscopan relieves stomach cramps and period pains by helping your digestive system and bladder relax.
It does this by reducing the wave-like contractions of the muscle in the walls of the stomach, bowel and bladder.
Buscopan helps to treat stomach cramps and period pains, but doesn’t cure them.
Buscopan tablets start to work within 15 minutes. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if your symptoms don’t improve within 2 weeks.
Do not take Buscopan for longer than 2 weeks. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms change, get worse or haven’t improved in the
meantime.
Your doctor will want to rule out an illness that may be causing your symptoms.
If it’s on the advice of your doctor, you can take Buscopan for longer.
Buscopan is safe to take for a long time (more than 3 months) as long as you take the recommended dose and you’re not having any side effects.
Buscopan Cramps and Buscopan IBS Relief are essentially
identical.
The tablets in each contain the same active ingredient (hyoscine butylbromide) and in the same strength (10mg).
But the 2 products are marketed differently:
Buscopan IBS Relief is available from most pharmacies and supermarkets.
Buscopan Cramps is only available from behind the pharmacy counter.
Usually it’s best not to take Buscopan at the same time as other IBS remedies – just take one or the other.
Yes, you can take Buscopan at the same time as everyday painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen.
There are other IBS remedies, including peppermint oil (Colpermin) and mebeverine (Colofac).
Peppermint oil and mebeverine are also antispasmodic remedies. They work in a similar way to Buscopan to relax stomach muscles and ease
painful cramps.
Both peppermint oil and mebeverine are available to buy from high street pharmacies. Mebeverine is also available on prescription.
There’s no firm evidence to suggest that taking Buscopan will reduce fertility in either men or women.
But if you’re trying to get pregnant, speak to a pharmacist or your doctor before taking it. They may want to review your treatment.
Buscopan doesn’t affect any type
of contraception, including the contraceptive
pill or emergency contraception.
Buscopan can give you blurred vision or make you dizzy. If this happens to you, do not drive, cycle or use machinery or tools until it’s worn off.
Yes, you can drink alcohol with Buscopan.
But try to keep to the recommended guidelines of no more than 14 units of alcohol a week.
A standard glass of wine (175ml) is 2 units. A pint of lager or beer is usually 2 to 3 units of alcohol.
There are a number of lifestyle changes you can make to prevent or ease painful stomach cramps and IBS.
It can really help to understand which, if any, foods trigger your
cramps and then reduce or remove them from your diet.
Common triggers include caffeine, fizzy drinks and fried food.
It can also help to control your stress levels – for example, by doing breathing exercises or trying a relaxation therapy such as yoga, Pilates or meditation.
Aim to exercise 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes. Regular activity is good for your digestive system.
