This medication contains an antihistamine. Typically, it is used for itching or for allergic rhinitis. It may also be used to treat urticaria. Its effects can be felt within 1 hour.

This medication is typically used only once a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Generally, it is used only as needed.

Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. This medication may be taken with or without food.

Consuming alcohol may intensify the effect of this product. It is therefore advisable to avoid consuming alcohol or alcohol-containing products while taking this medication.

In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:

Cetirizine belongs to the class of medications called second-generation antihistamines, specifically the class known as histamine receptor antagonists. For adults and children 2 years of age and older, it is used for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergies including sneezing; itchy nose and throat; stuffy and runny nose; and tearing, red, or itchy eyes. It is also used for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic skin conditions (e.g., chronic idiopathic urticaria) such as itchy skin and hives. For adults and children over the age of 12 years, it is also used for the relief of symptoms associated with year-round allergies and hives.

Cetirizine works by blocking the actions of one of the body’s natural chemicals known as histamine. Histamine is responsible for many of the symptoms caused by allergies.

Cetirizine usually starts to relieve allergy symptoms within 20 minutes and lasts for 24 hours.

This medication may be available under multiple brand names and/or in several different forms. Any specific brand name of this medication may not be available in all of the forms or approved for all of the conditions discussed here. As well, some forms of this medication may not be used for all of the conditions discussed here.

Each white, ovoid, film-coated tablet, scored and engraved “10 mg” on one side and “APO” on the other, contains 10 mg of cetirizine HCl. Nonmedicinal ingredients: carnauba wax, cornstarch, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, and titanium dioxide.

20 mg
Each white-to-off-white, film-coated, rectangle-shaped, biconvex, tablet engraved “20” score “MG” on one side, and “APO” on the other side, contains 20 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride. Nonmedicinal ingredients: carnauba wax, cornstarch, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, and titanium dioxide.

If you frequently use over-the-counter drops and are still experiencing bothersome dry eye symptoms, it could be dry eye disease.

The recommended dose for adults and children 12 years of age and older is 5 mg to 10 mg once daily taken by mouth depending on the severity of the symptoms and circumstances of the person taking the medication. If 10 mg once daily is not enough to control your allergy symptoms, talk to your doctor.

For adults 65 years of age and over, the recommended dose is 5 mg once daily.

For children 6 to 12 years of age, the recommended dose is 10 mg once daily or 5 mg in the morning and in the evening.

For children 2 to 6 years of age, the recommended dose is 5 mg (one teaspoon) given once daily, or 2.5 mg (one-half teaspoon) of syrup in the morning and evening.

Use an oral syringe to measure each dose of the liquid, as it gives a more accurate measurement than household teaspoons.

All forms of cetirizine may be taken with or without food.

Seniors, and people with kidney or liver problems, may need lower doses of this medication.

Children should not use this medication for more than 14 days at a time unless recommended by a doctor.

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take this medication exactly as suggested by your doctor or pharmacist. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Store this medication at room temperature, protect it from moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.

Do not take this medication if you:

Many medications can cause side effects. A side effect is an unwanted response to a medication when it is taken in normal doses. Side effects can be mild or severe, temporary or permanent.

The side effects listed below are not experienced by everyone who takes this medication. If you are concerned about side effects, discuss the risks and benefits of this medication with your doctor.

The following side effects have been reported by at least 1% of people taking this medication. Many of these side effects can be managed, and some may go away on their own over time.

Contact your doctor if you experience these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. Your pharmacist may be able to advise you on managing side effects.

Although most of the side effects listed below don’t happen very often, they could lead to serious problems if you do not seek medical attention.

Some people may experience side effects other than those listed. Check with your doctor if you notice any symptom that worries you while you are taking this medication.

Before you begin using a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should use this medication.

Drowsiness/reduced alertness: Studies have shown that cetirizine does not cause drowsiness under normal circumstances. A small percentage of people taking this medication have experienced a degree of drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you become drowsy while taking this medication.

Reduced kidney function: If you have reduced kidney function, discuss with your doctor how this medication may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of this medication, and whether any special monitoring is needed.

Reduced liver function: If you have reduced liver function, discuss with your doctor how this medication may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of this medication, and whether any special monitoring is needed.

Pregnancy: This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately.

Breast-feeding: It is not known if cetirizine passes into breast milk. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are taking this medication, it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.

Children: The safety and effectiveness of using this medication for seasonal allergies and allergic skin conditions have not been established for children less than 2 years of age. The safety and effectiveness of using this medication for year-round allergies have not been established for children 12 years of age and under.

اثرات اصلی این نوع آنتی هیستامین از طریق مهار گیرنده های اختصاصی محیطی H1 اعمال می شود. آپو- سیتریزین مشتقی از پی پرازین و متابولیت هیدروکسی زین است که به عنوان یک آنتی هیستامین غیر آرامبخش معرفی شده است. این دارو دارای تاثیر طولانی مدت بوده و باعث تثبیت فعالیت تعدادی از سلول های ماست – سل می گردد. آپو- سیتریزین بطور معمول فعالیت آنتی موسکارینی ندارد.

آپو- سیتریزین برای درمان علایم آلرژی فصلی، رینیت آلرژیک، خارش و کهیر مزمن به کار می رود.

آپو- سیتریزین پس از مصرف خوراکی به سرعت از طریق دستگاه گوارش جذب شده و حداکثر غلظت پلاسمایی آن یک ساعت پس از مصرف خوراکی حاصل می شود. این دارو به مقدار زیادی به پروتئین های پلاسما متصل می شود و نیمه عمر دفعی آن حدود 10 ساعت است. قسمت عمده آپو- سیتریزین به صورت تغییر نیافته از راه ادرار دفع می گردد. این دارو از سد خونی ـ مغزی عبور نمی کند و در دوزهای معمول قدرت خواب آوری کمی دارد.

با مصرف آپو- سیتریزین سردرد، گلو درد، خستگی، خشکی دهان و دردهای شکمی در کودکان گزارش شده است.

مصرف آپو- سیتریزین در بیماران مبتلا به صرع و ناراحتی های کلیوی و کبدی باید با احتیاط صورت گیرد.

آپو- سیتریزین در بیمارانی که دارای حساسیت شدید به این دارو و یا هیدروکسی زین هستند نباید مصرف شود.

در مورد تاثیر آپو- سیتریزین درزنان باردار مطالعه ای صورت نگرفته است. با این وجود بررسهای انجام شده در حیوانات گزارشی دال بر نقص جنینی نشان نداده است. مقدار بسیار کمی از آپو- سیتریزین در شیر ترشح می گردد، لذا مصرف آن در خانمهای شیرده باید زیر نظر متخصص اطفال صورت گیرد.

تداخلات دارویی با آپو- سیتریزین در مقایسه با سایر آنتی هیستامینهای غیر آرامبخش مثل آستمیزول و ترفنادین، بندرت دیده می شود. به نظر می رسد که این دارو متابولیسم کبدی اندکی دارد و قدرت آریتموژنیکی آن بسیار کم است. اما مصرف همزمان آپو- سیتریزین با ریتوناویر غلظت دارو افزایش می یابد.

سیتریزین به دسته داروهای ضد حساسیت (آنتی هیستامین)تعلق دارد. این دارو با جلوگیری از اثر هیستامین که به طور طبیعی در واکنش به مواد حساسیت زا در سلول های بدن تولید و آزاد می شود، علائم حساسیت (عطسه، خارش، آبریزش چشم و بینی، کهیر و…)را تسکین می‌دهد.
سیتریزین از دسته ی داروهایی است که می‌توان آن را بدون نسخه از داروخانه تهیه نمود.
-قرص و کپسول این دارو برای بزرگسالان و فرم شربت آن برای کودکان مناسب می باشد. البته مصرف این دارو در کودکان کمتر از دو سال مناسب نیست و توصیه نمی شود.
پیش از مصرف سیتریزین
-در صورت بارداری، تصمیم بارداری یا شیردهی حتماً پزشک خود را در جریان قرار دهید.
-در صورت ابتلا به هرگونه نقص کلیوی حتماً پزشک خود را مطلع نمایید زیرا ممکن است با توجه به شرایط کلیوی، نیاز به تغییر مقدار مصرف دارو داشته باشید.
-در صورت سابقه یا ابتلا به صرع و بیماری خونی پورفیری، پزشک خود را مطلع نمایید.
-لیست کاملی از سایر داروهای مصرفی خود را در اختیار پزشک یا داروساز خود قرار دهید تا در صورت نیاز به تنظیم مجدد داروها، اقدامات لازم صورت بگیرد.
-در صورت سابقه ی حساسیت به سیتریزین و یا هر یک از داروهای ضد حساسیت، به پزشک یا داروساز اطلاع دهید.
نحوه صحیح مصرف سیتریزین
-مقدار مصرف پیشنهادی سیتریزین به صورت معمول برای بزرگسالان و افراد بالای ۱۲ سال ۱۰ میلی گرم یک بار در روز ، برای کودکان ۶ تا ۱۱ سال ۵ میلی گرم دو بار در روز و برای کودکان ۲ تا ۵ ساله٢/۵ میلی گرم دو بار در روز می باشد.
-به دلیل اینکه کودکان به عوارض آرام بخشی و خواب آوری این دارو حساسیت بیشتری دارند، در صورتی که از فرم شربت این دارو برای کودک استفاده می نمایید، لازم است مقدار مصرف را به صورت دقیق در هر نوبت با توجه به سن کودک اندازه گیری نمایید.
-مصرف این دارو با غذا تداخلی ندارد و می توانید آن را قبل یا پس از غذا همراه با یک لیوان آب مصرف نمایید.
-در صورت فراموشی یک نوبت مصرف دارو جای نگرانی نیست و می‌توانید نوبت بعدی را در صورت نیاز مصرف نمایید اما از دو برابر نمودن مقدار مصرف در یک نوبت خودداری نمایید.
توصیه ها
-مصرف داروهای ضد حساسیت مانند سیتریزین معمولاً کوتاه مدت است و نیاز به ادامه مصرف دارو پس از کنترل علایم حساسیت نمی باشد.
-با وجود اینکه سیتریزین از نسل جدید داروهای ضد حساسیت می باشد و اثر خواب آوری کمتری نسبت به داروهای قدیمی تر دارد، اما همچنان در برخی افراد ایجاد گیجی و خواب آلودگی می نماید لذا در صورتی که شما جزء این دسته از افراد هستید، در مدت مصرف این دارو از رانندگی و کار با ابزاری که نیاز به احتیاط بیشتری دارند، خودداری نمایید.
-مصرف همزمان فرآورده‌های الکلی با این دارو می‌تواند عوارض خواب آوری و گیجی آن را تشدید نماید که در بعضی افراد می تواند خطرناک باشد.
-در صورتی که انجام قصد عمل جراحی یا هرگونه پروسه درمانی یا آزمایش (خصوصاً تست آلرژی )را دارید درمانگر خود را در جریان مصرف این دارو قرار دهید تا در صورت نیاز، مصرف این دارو در زمان مناسب قطع گردد.
-در هنگام خرید هرگونه دارو یا فرآورده مکمل از داروخانه، داروساز خود را در جریان مصرف این دارو قرار دهید.همچنین در صورتی که این دارو را به عنوان داروی بدون نسخه از داروخانه تهیه می نمایید، حتماً با داروساز مشورت نمایید تا از مناسب بودن آن برای شرایط خود اطمینان حاصل کنید.
عوارض ناخواسته دارویی سیتریزین 
-احساس خستگی، خواب آلودگی و گیجی از عوارض شایع داروهای ضد حساسیت می باشد. در صورت بروز این علائم از رانندگی و کار با ابزار خطرناک بپرهیزید و از فراورده های الکلی استفاده نکنید.
-در صورت بروز خشکی دهان از آدامس یا آب نبات های فاقد قند استفاده نمایید.
-سردرد می تواند از عوارض مصرف این دارو باشد. در صورت بروز این عارضه مایعات مقدار کافی مصرف نمایید و ازداروسازتان جهت معرفی داروی ضد درد مناسب شرایط خود کمک بگیرید.
-در صورتی که سردرد ادامه دار یا شدید شد به پزشک مراجعه نمایید.
-در صورت احساس تهوع یا دل درد، از وعده های غذایی سبک استفاده کنید و از مصرف غذاهای پرچرب پر ادویه بپرهیزید.
-بروز اسهال خفیف به ویژه در کودکان می‌تواند از عوارض مصرف این دارو باشد که معمولاً خود به خود رفع می گردد. با این حال لازم است که آب و مایعات به مقدار کافی مصرف نمایید.
-در صورت احساس گلودرد، حساسیت بینی و هرگونه تشدید علائم سرماخوردگی در کودکان با پزشک صحبت نمایید.

قرص آپو سیتریزین (apo-cetirizine) چیست؟ قیمت عوارض و موارد مصرف آن چیست این دارو حاوی آنتی هیستامین است. به طور معمول، آن را برای خارش یا برای رینیت آلرژیک استفاده می شود. همچنین ممکن است برای درمان زنجبیل استفاده شود. اثرات آن را می توان در عرض ۱ ساعت احساس کرد.

This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use Cetirizine 10 mg
Tablets carefully to get the best results from it.

In this leaflet:

Cetirizine hydrochloride is the active ingredient
of Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets.

Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets is an antiallergic
medication.

In adults and children aged 6 year and above,
Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets are indicated

Do not take Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets

You should not take Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets:

Take special care with Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets

If you have kidney problems, please ask your
doctor for advice; if necessary, you may have to
take a lower dose. The new dose will be
determined by your doctor.

If you are an epileptic patient or a patient at risk
of convulsions, you should ask your doctor for
advice.

Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are
taking or have recently taken any other medicines,
including medicines obtained without a
prescription.

Due to the profile of cetirizine, no interactions with
other drugs are expected.

Taking Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets with food and
drink

Food does not noticeably affect the absorption of
cetirizine.

No interactions having a noticeable impact have
been observed between alcohol (at the blood
level of 0.5 per millilitre corresponding to one
glass of wine) and cetirizine used at the normal
doses. However, as it is the case with all
antihistamines, it is recommended to avoid
consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Ask your doctor for advice before taking any
medicine.

As with other drugs, use of Cetirizine 10 mg
Tablets should be avoided by pregnant women.
Accidental use of the drug by a pregnant woman
should not produce any harmful effects on the
foetus. Nevertheless, the administration of the
medicine should be discontinued.

You should not take Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets
during breast-feeding because cetirizine passes
into breast milk.

Driving and using machines

Clinical studies have produced no evidence of
impaired attention, alertness and driving
capabilities after taking Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets
at the recommended dose.

If you intend to drive, operate machinery, or
perform other tasks that need your full attention,
you should not exceed the recommended dose
and you should closely observe your response
to the drug.If you are a sensitive patient, you may
find that the simultaneous use of alcohol or other
nervous depressant agents may additionally affect
your attention and ability to react.

Important information about some of the
ingredients of Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets

Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets contain lactose; if you
have been told by your doctor that you have an
intolerance to some sugars, please contact your
doctor before taking this medicinal product.

Allergy skin test

If you are going to have an allergy skin test stop
taking Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets for three days
before the test.

How and when should you take Cetirizine 10
mg Tablets?

These guidelines apply unless your doctor has
given you different instructions on how to use
Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets.

Please follow these instructions, otherwise Cetirizine
10 mg Tablets may not be fully effective.

Tablets need to be swallowed with a glass of
liquid.

Adults and adolescents above 12 years old:

10 mg once daily as one tablet.

Children between 6 and 12 years old:

5 mg twice daily as half a tablet.

Patients with kidney problems:

Patients with moderate renal impairment are
recommended to take 5 mg once daily as a half
tablet.

If you feel that the effect of Cetirizine 10 mg
Tablets is too weak or too strong, please consult
your doctor.

If you take more Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets than
you should

If you think you have taken an overdose of
Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets, please inform your doctor.
Your doctor will then decide what measures, if any,
should be taken.

After an overdose, the side effects described
below may occur with increased intensity. Adverse
effects such as confusion, diarrhoea, dizziness,
tiredness, headache, ailing, dilating (widening)
of the pupil, itching, restlessness, sedation,
somnolence, stupor, abnormal rapid heart rate,
tremors and urinary retention have been reported.

If you forget to take Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets

If you forget to take a tablet, take it as soon as
you remember, but wait at least 24 hours before
taking the next tablet. Do not take a double dose
to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you stop taking Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets

If you have any further questions on the use of
this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Like all medicines, Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets can
cause side effects, although not everybody gets
them.

The following side effects have been reported in
post marketing experience. The frequencies are
defined as such: (common: 1 patient out of 100
to less than 1 out of 10, uncommon: 1 out of
1,000 to less than 1 out of 100, rare: 1 out of
10,000 to less than 1 out of 1,000, very rare: less
than 1 out of 10,000, not known: cannot be
estimated from the available data).

If you develop one of the side effects
described above, please inform your doctor.
At the first signs of an allergic
(hypersensitivity) reaction, stop taking
Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets and contact your
doctor immediately. Symptoms of an allergic
(hypersensitivity) reaction include difficulty
breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue
or throat. Your doctor will then assess the
severity and decide on any further measures
that may be necessary.

If you think you have any side effects not
mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your
doctor or pharmacist.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use Cetirizine 10 mg Tablets after the
expiry date which is stated on the box and blister.

This medicine does not require any special
storage conditions.

contents of the pack

White, capsule shaped film-coated tablets with
a score on one side.

There are 7, 10 or 30 tablets in a pack.

Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
