ملوکسیکام در درمان علائم بیماری‌های روماتیسم، پوکی استخوان، اسپوندیلیت انکیلوزان مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرد.
ملوکسیکام از طریق مهار تولید ترکیبات شیمیایی که موجب درد و التهاب بدن میشوند عمل می‌کند. التهاب به علل مختلفی میتواند در مفصل، تاندون، عضله یا بافت‌های دیگر بدن بوجود آمده و موجب تورم و درد میشود. ملوکسیکام مانند دیگر داروهای ضد التهابی غیر استروئیدی آنزیم سیکلواکسیژناز cyclooxygenase را مهار کرده و مانع فعالیت آن میشود. این آنزیم مسئول ساخت پروستاگلاندین‌ها prostaglandins هستند و پروستاگلاندین‌ها مواد شیمیایی در بدن هستند که موجب التهاب مشوند. داروهای ضد التهابی غیر استروئیدی از جمله ملوکسیکام با مهار این آنزیم موجب کاهش التهاب و علائم ناشی از آن مثل درد میشوند.
مقدار مصرف ملوکسیکام معمولاً یک قرص ۷٫۵ میلیگرمی در روز است ولی تحت نظر پزشک میتوان استفاده از آن را تا ۱۵ میلیگرم در روز هم رساند. این دارو را میتوان در دمای اتاق و هوای خشک نگهداری کرد.

ملوکسیکام میتواند با داروهای کاپتوپریل و لازیکس (فورزماید) تداخل اثر کرده و با کاهش اثر آنها موجب افزایش فشار خون شود. بیماران مبتلا به آسم یا دارای حساسیت به آسپرین یا دیگر داروهای ضد التهابی غیر استروئیدی نباید از این دارو استفاده کنند. خطر مرگ و همچنین مصرف همزمان ملوکسیکام با داروهای رقیق‌کننده خون مانند وارفارین باید با احتیاط و با نظر پزشک باشد. از مصرف ملوکسیکام در سه‌ماهه اول و دوم بارداری باید اجتناب کرد.
توجه : قبل از تجویز ملوکسیکام در صورتی که هرگونه داروی مسکن و آنتی هیستامین مصرف میکنید به پزشک خود اطلاع دهید.ملوکسیکام با داروهایی مانند آسپرین، ایبوپروفن، ناپروکسن و داروهای مشابه تداخل شدید دارد.

ملوکسیکام meloxicam که نام تجاری آن موبیک mobic است جزو دسته ای از داروها است که به آنها داروهای ضد التهابی غیر استروئیدی (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs میگویند. از این دسته داروها برای کاهش التهاب و درد استفاده میشود.

التهاب به علل مختلفی میتواند در مفصل، تاندون، عضله یا بافت های دیگر بدن بوجود آمده و موجب تورم و درد میشود.
ملوکسیکام مانند دیگر داروهای ضد التهابی غیر استروئیدی آنزیم سیکلواکسیژناز cyclooxygenase را مهار کرده و مانع فعالیت آن میشود.
این آنزیم مسئول ساخت پروستاگلاندین ها prostaglandins هستند و پروستاگلاندین ها مواد شیمیایی در بدن هستند که موجب التهاب مشوند.
پس داروهای ضد التهابی غیر استروئیدی از جمله ملوکسیکام با مهار این آنزیم موجی کاهش التهاب و علائم ناشی از آن مثل درد میشوند.
ملوکسیکام در درمان التهاب و درد ناشی از آرتروز و روماتیسم مفصلی و اسپوندیلیت انکیلوزان مصرف میشود. مقدار مصرف ملوکسیکام معمولا یک قرص ۷.۵ میلیگرمی در روز است ولی تحت نظر پزشک میتوان استفاده از آنرا تا ۱۵ میلیگرم در روز هم رساند.
استفاده از ملوکسیکام در سال ۲۰۰۰ میلادی شروع شد. ملوکسیکام بصورت قرص های ۷.۵ و ۱۵ میلیگرمی ارائه میشود. این دارو را میتوان در دمای اطاق و هوای خشک نگهداری کرد.
اگر از ملوکسیکام استفاده میکنید به نکات زیر توجه کنید :
قبل از مصرف ملوکسیکام در صورتیکه شرایط زیر را دارید باید با پزشک مشورت کنید
ملوکسیکام را بهتر است بعد از مصرف غذا میل کنید. این دارو بصورت یک بار در روز مصرف میشود و بهتر است هر روز در یک ساعت معین مصرف شود.
اگر در یک روز، مصرف دارو را فراموش کرده اید به محض اینکه به یادتان آمد آنرا مصرف کنید ولی در صورتی که ۲۴ ساعت از زمانی که باید دارو را مصرف میکردید گذشته است مقدار مصرف را دو برابر نکرده و داروی همان روز را مصرف کنید.
ملوکسیکام مانند هر داروی دیگری ممکن است عوارض جانبی به همراه داشته باشد. در صورت بروز عوارض با پزشک خود مشورت کنید. شایعترین عوارض مصرف دارو عبارتند از
